Welcome to Oxford Softball
To register for the free ladies taster session, please complete the form below.
If you are interested in trying softball but can’t make this session, please still complete the form and you will be added to our mailing list and will receive details of other taster sessions running in April.
The session will take place on Sunday 7 April at Horspath Sports Ground (OX4 2RR), from 1-3pm. There is free parking on site and a clubhouse for refreshments/facilities.
What to Expect
The session is completely free of charge and all equipment is provided.
We do not expect any previous experience! The session will be a fun introduction to some of the basic skills and rules of the game and will be suitable for all levels of fitness and general sporting ability.
Softball is a very social sport and is a great way to meet new people – the taster session will offer the chance to get to know your fellow rookies as well as some current league players and committee members.
The session will be held outdoors on a grass pitch so sportswear and trainers are advisable – layers are always a good idea! Please also bring some water.
About the Oxford Softball League
Softball is a very similar game to baseball, with a few rule changes to make it a more involved game. Softball is an inclusive sport with male, female and non-binary players given an equal role in the composition of each team.
There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ softball player – players in our league range in experience (from complete beginners to those that play at the highest national level), age (from 14 to 60+), fitness levels and nationality.
However, being co-ed makes us extremely sociable – you will find most players in the onsite bar after games, there are social events throughout the year and some even play weekend tournaments together.
The league is comprised of 10 teams with league games taking place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Horspath Sports Ground. We are always on the look out for new players so please share this page with anyone who you think might like to give it a go!
